Why your Stake VIP progress bar says 46% when you have wagered more than half

The short version

The bar does not measure how far you are from zero. It measures how far you are through the gap between the level you have and the level you are chasing. Bronze is $10,000 of lifetime wagering and Silver is $50,000, so once you are Bronze the bar covers the $40,000 between them, not the full $50,000. That is why someone who has wagered more than half of $50,000 can still be looking at a number in the forties.

The case that showed it

A player told us he had wagered about $28,000 and his bar read 46.8% toward Silver. On the obvious reading that looks broken: $28,000 is 56% of $50,000, so the bar should say 56%.

Read it as Bronze-to-Silver instead and it lands exactly. 46.8% of the $40,000 between the two levels is $18,720. Add the $10,000 he had already banked getting to Bronze and you get $28,720 of lifetime wagering, which is what he had. He confirmed the figure.

How to work out what you actually have left

Take the threshold for the level you are chasing, subtract the threshold for the level you already hold, and that is the span your bar is measuring. Multiply the span by your percentage, add your current level's threshold, and you have your lifetime wagered. Subtract that from the next threshold and you have the real distance left.

For the player above: $50,000 minus $28,720 is $21,280 still to wager. Not the $22,000 the bar might suggest at a glance, and a long way from the "nearly halfway" feeling that 46.8% gives you.

The thresholds you need for the sum

Lifetime wagering: $10,000 Bronze, $50,000 Silver, $100,000 Gold, $250,000 Platinum I, then $500,000, $1M, $2.5M, $5M and $10M through the Platinum tiers, and $25M upwards for Diamond. Sportsbook wagers count three times toward progress, so a sports-heavy account climbs on a third of the turnover. Why this is worth knowing before you chase a level

A bar reading 46.8% feels like you are nearly there. The honest number is that our player had $21,280 of wagering left, and on a 4% slot that much wagering expects to cost about $851. The level is not the prize; it is the receipt for what the climb cost. Knowing which of those two numbers you are looking at is the entire point of this page.
